episode 95

Social media is a regular part of everyone's life and it can be a great tool to stay in touch with friends and family, support causes you care about, learn new information and stay up to date, find a community and can be a great creative outlet. However, excessive use of social media can have a lot of negative effects on mental health, so today I'm sharing how you can create a healthier relationship with social media and in turn improve your mental health.

In this episode I discuss:

  • Curating a positive feed by unfollowing and blocking negative people or people you simply find yourself comparing yourself to and following people that make you feel good

  • Setting boundaries around your social media usage i.e. not checking your phone an hour before bed, at mealtimes or first thing in the morning

  • Setting an intention when checking social media so you are more aware of why exactly you are logging on and you consume more consciously

  • Taking a break from social media when you need it or deleting it completely if you feel it's negatively impacting you

You may be thinking 'I don't use social media that much' but I want to challenge you to check your screen time on your phone, after I checked mine, I realized I used it a lot more than I thought. I hope this episode helps you consume and share more consciously and encourages you to put your mental health first.
