episode 73

Grit is an individual's perseverance of effort combined with the passion for a particular long-term goal or end state. Grace is the free and unmerited favor of God. So how can we navigate life with determination and still lean on our faith.

In this episode I discuss:

  • Giving yourself the same grace God shows us when grit isn't enough. Let go of the all or nothing mindset and give yourself same grace when you stumble.

  • Having grit in your pursuit of spiritual growth. If you want to deepen your faith it will take grit. Whether that's having the determination to turn off the tv and read your Bible or wake up in time for church.

  • When you have no grit left to give there is grace. In those really hard seasons of life whether you're dealing with depression, loss, addiction, etc. when you have nothing left to give know there is God's grace to get you through.

Having grit is an important characteristic because it can get you far, but it is my hope that you never lose sight of your faith and remember where your blessings come from. You cannot grit your way to grace. You don't have to earn it and you can never lose it and that is what makes it so amazing.
