episode 101

I talk a lot about moving your body and fueling your body well as a form of self-care, but I know that diet and exercise can be touchy subjects. As a size 16 woman I have had my own struggles with embarking on a health journey, which is why I wanted to do this two-part series all about joyful movement and intuitive eating. If you struggle with viewing exercise as a punishment or you're trapped in the mindset of working out to improve how you look versus how you feel, then this episode is for you.

In today's episode I discuss:

  • The positive impact regular physical activity can have on your mental health, energy levels, sleep and long-term physical health

  • Letting go of the self-hatred and shame and shifting your mindset to see exercise as a form of self-care so you can show up as the best version of you

  • Tracking non-scale victories and shifting your goals of working out away from a certain number on the scale or on the tag of your jeans

  • Finding an exercise that you actually enjoy. There is no one right way to workout, find one that you genuinely enjoy doing

  • Listening to your body and taking rest days when you need them.

I hope this episode helped you to reframe the way you view movement, and you can start to find joy in it. I have noticed a huge difference in how I feel when I move my body regularly because it is self-care and has so many benefits for your mental and physical health.
